Over the years, we’ve seen F1 drivers take moves out of other drivers’ books. Daniel Ricciardo was infamous for his late break divebomb but now we see his former teammate Lando Norris doing the same. Seems like the F1 effect has been transferred to the NFL legends as Patrick Mahomes takes a leaf out of Tom Brady’s playbook and recreates the iconic Daniel Ricciardo moment.
The Monaco GP is known for its glamor and is generally a race filled with millionaires and celebrities in the paddock or in their Yachts watching the race from the bay. In 2018, NFL fan Daniel Ricciardo and NFL legend Tom Brady decided to create a moment in this bay as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback threw a football from a yacht and was caught by Daniel Ricciardo in another boat.

Now the same moment has been created 6 years later by Patrick Mahomes and Alpine’s reserve driver Jack Doohan. The Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback threw the ball from the paddock toward Doohan standing in the Grandstands and was caught by the Alpine reserve. It was a perfect throw, just like the ones that Ricciardo and Brady created.
Alpine uploaded the video of Mahomes and Doohan creating the moment just about an hour before the race actually began. The caption of the post if you’re wondering is, “Big sends from @patrickmahomes”. However, unlike Mahomes, Alpine hasn’t been able to send their car like they wanted to despite making numerous changes to the management. The team has been towards the backend of the grid but there is some good news coming into the Miami GP.

Alpine Bring Upgrades planned for Miami GP earlier than they were expected
Alpine started the 2024 season at the back of the grid. The problems with their car? What you should be asking is what’s right with their car. Lowest power with the Renault engine, low on downforce, high drag, and almost 10 kgs overweight. Alpine was expected to bring the first upgrades for the Miami GP but the factory worked extra hard and brought the upgrades for one car at the last round in Shanghai. The car since then seems to have improved massively and Alpine this weekend has been fighting for the final points.
Bruno Famin said, “In Shanghai, we had the new floor; we were supposed to have the new floor only here in Miami. We have been able [to] with the guys at the factory pushing hard to make one for Shanghai. Now, here for the first time and faster than planned and scheduled, we will have the two cars at the minimum weight. We brought two upgrades on the aerodynamic side [this season]. But we know that all of this is only part of the way we need to do.”
