Sebastian Vettel questions his own lifestyle choices amidst environmental concerns
During his appearance on BBC Question Time, Vettel was called out for his lifestyle choices, which include driving a Formula One car for a living. But the Aston Martin driver did not disagree with the claim and instead gave a very poignant and logical answer.
When asked if driving an F1 car makes him a hypocrite, he answered, “It does, it does, and you’re right when you laugh. There’s questions I ask myself every day and I’m not a saint. Certain things are in my control and certain things are not. It’s my passion to drive a car. I love it and every time I step in the car I love it.”

“When I get out of the car, of course, I’m thinking as well ‘Is this something that we should do, travel the world, wasting resources?’ There’s things that I do because I feel I can do them better. Do I need to take a plane every time? No, not when I can take the car,” said the Aston Martin driver.

It is no surprise to see Vettel being so honest about his own shortcomings. But it is refreshing to see a top-level athlete calling himself out for all the mistakes he made in the past, and working towards improving them.
He really is a great example for all the younger generations that follow him in Formula One. It is also impressive to see his knowledge of the political issues in the European atmosphere and his opinions on them. Who knows? Maybe a career in the political world is a possibility for the four-time world champion in the near future.
