The legend of Ayrton Senna is widespread and celebrated among fans across the globe. With his record race wins at the time and three championships, the Brazilian was a fan favorite. However, his untimely death during the 1994 San Marino GP at Imola ended his career and legend early. Despite his early demise, the life of the McLaren and F1 legend was a story to be shared with the world. This is exactly what Netflix is planning to do as well with their latest project. However, the fans are concerned and have their inhibitions.
The Netflix project will be the second feature of Senna’s life, with the movie Senna as the first, which one F1 entity hates. On the occasion of Senna’s birthday, Motorsport.com posted an update on Senna on their Instagram page. The update was a screenshot of Netflix’s tweet, revealing the actor who will be portraying the Brazilian legend in the upcoming docuseries. The actor is fellow countryman Gabriel Leone.

Leone is an actor and musician born in 1993, a year before Senna’s death. The 29-year-old started his acting journey in 2013 but received national recognition for his role in a local TV series in 2015. The Brazilian received international recognition for his role in a Brazilian show called Dom in 2021. Now, the Brazilian will portray the legendary racing driver in the Netflix docuseries.
This announcement is a concerning one for the fans for two reasons. First, Netflix has already dipped its toes in the F1 business with Drive to Survive, but of late has incurred a lot of criticism for the portrayal of incidents in the show. Secondly, the fans are concerned the docuseries will butcher the legend of Senna, starting with the actor.

This is why, despite Leone’s acting pedigree, the fans still have some inhibitions toward this Netflix project.
Fans showcase their inhibition toward the new Netflix project on Ayrton Senna
The movie Senna has a massive fanbase and is adored by the fans. This movie perfectly captures the life of Senna and his achievements and impact on the people of Brazil leading up to his death. The emotional ride is a beautiful summation of the Brazilian racing legend.
The fans are concerned if Netflix will be able to maintain such standards and not butcher the docuseries.
“Thought the movie was perfection and should be left as the definite media on Senna”
“Netflix better not screw that up!”
“Ready for for the heartbreak”
“Looks nothing like Senna”
“Well at least is Brazilian, considering Netflix latest choices it could have been a Mexican portraying SennaThe film was perfect.”
“There doesn’t need to be a series to tell his story as well.”
Fans on Twitter had the same inhibitions.
Please, Netflix, don't screw this up! His fan base is huge, so respect that. Don't make it another The Crown. pic.twitter.com/gQzuEQkF5D
