The difference between dreamers and achievers is ‘hard work’. That’s what made Lewis Hamilton the Champion he is today. Though the 7x champ makes it look easy on the track, his journey was anything but easy. Luck wasn’t on the Briton’s side, especially since the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. But still, he brought his ‘A-game’ back to the Australian GP and took P3. Ever wondered how he stays motivated despite the setbacks?

In an inspiring Instagram post, the Champ shared what it means ‘to be motivated’ for him. In the post, he mentioned the importance of taking care of self, and training both his ‘mind’ and ‘body’. And what better way to do that than Cold water therapy? In one of the pictures, Hamilton can be seen on a horse trough of ice-cold water with a painful grimace on his face. He’s already spoken openly about his use of ice baths and other recovery methods that help him perform at the highest level. Ultimately, it’s his choice that helped him cut out the negativity and stay focused on his craft.

In the post, Lewis wrote, “What does it mean to be motivated? For me it means choosing to push myself to be better in all things. In our work, in creativity, in life overall. Motivation means taking care of ourselves, training both mind and body, and working toward progress no matter how small it may seem. I’m no stranger to tough days. When they come, it feels impossible to push on. That negativity isn’t real, it’s all in the mind and I know you have it in you to overcome it.”

Currently, Mercedes and Hamilton are going through tough times, given their ongoing headaches with the W14. But still, Hamilton is focused to get his team back on top, once he gets the right car.

Lewis Hamilton ready to fight for the F1 title ‘tomorrow’

Ever since the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has not won a race–or even taken a pole position until the recent Australian GP. While factors other than plain performance have contributed to it, he was also outscored by teammate George Russell during the 2022 season. It’s hard to see him not being able to compete for the championship, mostly because his car is simply not good enough. But if you know Hamilton, you’d know he loves the challenge.

Hamilton’s current goal is to be ready for when the car does deliver. So, for now, he’s trying to get the maximum out of it. If the best he can get with the car is a fourth or a third, so be it.

Speaking to Fox Sports he said, “I don’t like driving not great cars. I don’t like driving a car that’s not the car that we weren’t meant to have, but I love that challenge of ‘okay, what can I do with it?’ Wins are not possible right, so what is the maximum we can get? Can we be a little cheeky and if fifth is the best we can get, can we get a fourth or a third?

He added: “Just make sure we are consistent and fit and ready so when the car does all of a sudden switch on, and it is the car you dreamed of having, you’re ready.” And for Hamilton, the word “ready” means, more specifically, “ready to win a world championship.”
