The only constant in this world of Formula 1 is change. We have seen multiple examples over the first ten races of the season. Aston Martin truly embodied the phrase from the start of the season as the surprise so far. Aston Martin shocked the entire grid with their massive leap from bottom-feeders to the second-fastest team on the grid. The consistent podium finishes from Fernando Alonso put the stamp on their authority. However, as weeks have passed, Alonso and Co. have fallen in the pecking order. This is why the Spaniard has issued a public caution after Lando Norris and Co. took a massive step toward the front of the gird.
Despite a considerable 122-point gap in the championship standings, Alonso is urging his team to keep an eye on McLaren. The Woking outfit took a massive leap to the front as they continue to introduce changes. The P2 and P3 in qualifying by the McLaren boys were enough to get all teams on high alert. As seen on Twitter, Alonso is among those now throwing caution to the wind with McLaren in mind.
Alonso said, “With McLaren, in the constructors’, we have enough of an advantage, but obviously, we need to keep an eye. They are very fast but they are a lot of points behind, so we should have enough space to keep the distance to them.”

The last time McLaren matched the pace of the AMR23, they were at an advantage. Now the tables have completely turned and now Aston Martin needs to bring massive upgrades to match the pace of the MCL60. However, despite the current dip in form, Alonso is still satisfied and enjoying his time with Aston Martin.

Not many expected the massive progress Aston Martin made over the winter to get their car toward the front. However, once the expectations are set, there is always a want for more. However, not Alonso! Despite his ambitions, Alonso understands the Aston Martin project isn’t short term. It’s a medium or long-term project and he is currently enjoying being competitive again.
“As this is a medium and long-term project, I don’t know if I’ll be here when the team is ready to win… But I always have in mind to be there, because as long as I feel fast and still have fun, it will continue. Why should I stop? Right now I’m having fun,” said Alonso, speaking to the media.
