Crossing the line well ahead of anyone else has become a routine for the double-world champion, Max Verstappen. The Dutch Lion has been in scintillating form this year. Yes, he might have the best car on the grid, but to do the things Max has done this year with his RB18 needs an exceptional driver.

As a result, former Mercedes demonstration driver Anthony Davidson believes that there is only one man who can challenge Max Verstappen for the championship.

Despite struggling all seasons due to different reasons, Lewis Hamilton has fought back commendably in recent weeks. The Silver Arrows driver won back-to-back P2 finishes in Austin and Mexico City. He also leapfrogged Carlos Sainz in the driver’s standings and currently is P5, 15 points behind teammate George Russell in P4.

On the other hand, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has achieved massive success this year. He’s broken records and deservedly won his second successive championship. Moreover, former Mercedes test driver Anthony Davidson believes there is only one driver who can challenge Max Verstappen in the near future – Lewis Hamilton.

Davidson said, “Lewis at the moment, he’s definitely still good enough without question and he’s the only one that can take this fight to Max. The problem is, as an older athlete, you start to lose a bit of performance. That hasn’t happened yet with Lewis, but at some point it’s inevitable and that’s the advantage Max has.”

After his record title was snatched from the cusp of his hands by Max Verstappen, Hamilton certainly does not need any more motivation. He’ll be looking to return all guns blazing next year. However, a lot of it depends on Mercedes and their W14 car.

Max Verstappen says he always believed in the Red Bull project

After winning his second world title in Suzuka, Max Verstappen recently won his record-breaking 14th win of the season. The Dutch driver broke Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher’s long-held record of most race wins in a calendar year. Moreover, the double world champion said that he never doubted Red Bull’s project for one bit.

Verstappen said, “Red Bull are my second family, they were already world champions before I joined. We had a bit of a tough time [at the start], but I always believed in the project.”

He further added, “The whole team we have – back at the factory designing the car combined with the powertrain division – we have a really great group of people who I think can be successful for quite a few years.

Max joined Red Bull in 2016 and won his debut race for the Milton-Keynes-based team. Furthermore, he plans on winning many more laurels with this team in the future.
