Remember when LeBron James at the age of 38 passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and became the No.1 in NBA’s all-time regular scoring list? How Tom Brady became the oldest player at the age of 40 to be named in First-Team All-Pro? Yes, these players are among the ones breaking the age stereotype. An F1 star seems to have taken a page from these legends’ book to break records as Lewis Hamilton’s boss recently applauded his greatness. But who is this driver?
Fernando Alonso is widely considered the wise old fox of the grid and was not expected to make a comeback when he ended his stint with McLaren. The same goes for LeBron James and Tom Brady, who were speculated to retire from the sport as the age started catching up. Many athletes retire before they turn 40 purely because of the stress and physically demanding nature of sports. But Alonso is busy breaking records season after season.
There’s a reason why despite being 41, Fernando Alonso is still at the very peak of his performance. Toto Wolff recently compared the Aston Martin driver to the GOATs of other sports, including LeBron James, Tom Brady, and Cristiano Ronaldo. As these athletes broke the stereotype of age-affecting performances, Wolff suggested that Alonso and Hamilton, along with all these other GOATs, can push well beyond 40 and yet continue to improve if they focus and train well.

According to Lasexta.com, Toto Wolff said, “Fernando has shown that at 41 years old he is still very strong. I think they are breaking down barriers. We can see athletes like Tom Brady or LeBron James, Ronaldo, and Lewis, who will reach beyond 40, and I think if you continue to improve if you know how to live your best life, lead good nutrition, train, and concentrate, you can stay longer.”
While Fernando Alonso is still eating up the grid for his breakfast, one thing that Fernando Alonso may not achieve is the 7X world championship record. By he has his eyes set on other records.

Alonso has suggested many times that the chance to break the championship record has now passed away. However, the Spaniard stays strong on breaking records and wants to become the first F1 driver to start 400 races. The tally is already well above 350. The Aston Martin driver also talked about winning the Triple Crown. Having already won the Le Mans and Monaco GP, Alonso needs an Indy 500 win.
According to F1-insider.com, Fernando Alonso said, “I can’t do eight World Cup titles to overtake Schumi anymore.” Nevertheless, Alonso did promise to break another record and rewrite history, “I will certainly reach 400 races.” F1 insider also spoke highly of Alonso’s long-lasting career and the possibility of a triple crown.
