After 4 races, the grand F1 circus has now moved to America. And as expected, the Miami fixture is turning out to be a starry affair. The latest to join the list is NFL sensation Tyreek Hill. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver hung out in the Alpine paddocks and even had an interesting interaction with Pierre Gasly. While there, Gasly played out a common F1 drivers’ drill with Tyreek. As the video of the challenge made rounds of the internet, an NBA star of the yesteryear couldn’t help but express his awe.
The Miami GP joined the F1 calendar last year. The weekend turned out to be a great opportunity for A-list celebrities from all over to flock to the circuit and meet and greet with their favorite drivers. This year, it’s no different. Before Tyreek, The Fast And The Furious franchise superstars, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez did a tour of the McLaren garage. Vin even had an intriguing conversation with their rookie driver, Oscar Piastri.

F1 drivers easily touch the 200 mph mark on almost every circuit on the F1 calendar. This requires the drivers to be on their toes at all times, ready to be able to make split-second decisions at all times. For that, they have to have great reflexes. To make sure they are as alert as they can be before stepping into the car, many drivers play a little game with their trainers. In that, the trainer holds two tennis balls facing the ground with their arms extended forward. The driver places his hands over the trainer’s and tries to catch the ball, which is released at random as quickly as possible.

Gasly and Tyreek played the game, and the video was going viral. Tyreek went first and, given his prowess in the NFL, did not drop the ball even once. He had a little fumble on one occasion but managed it. Pierre, as expected, completed the challenge with perfection. Former Miami Heat player, Rex Chapman, featured in the comments and was blown away by the dexterity of the two top athletes. Like, quite literally, because all he posted in his comment were three “mind-blown” emojis.
Alpine introduced a new floor design in Baku last weekend. Despite that, Gasly finished P14 while his teammate finished a place behind him. However, the team’s sporting director Alan Permane felt the change was a positive one.

Almost every team made their first amendments to their cars ahead of the race in Azerbaijan. Since then, they are introducing more changes, albeit small ones. Permane recently opened up on the team’s plans for the next few races to come. However, he was mindful of not revealing too much.

Speaking with Motorsport.com, he said, “We’ve got something in Miami, something else in Imola. I’m not too sure where we are beyond that.”
“But there’s definitely another tenth coming and then another tenth, so there’s good stuff coming in the pipeline and having that confidence that it’ll work first time is great.”
