Formula 1’s grid for this year has taken quite a shuffle. We have three rookies featuring this season, who all hold quite some promise. But certainly one of them stands out in terms of the success and speed which they have on their portfolio. And that driver is the AlphaTauri driver Nyck de Vries, who in his debut and only race last year finished 9th for Williams and bagged two points of the team’s total of 8.
And as we are moving toward the start of the season, fans are getting to know the Dutchman more. They are loving the candid side that the driver carries with him, which comes out even better when he is with his teammate, the ever-jolly Yuki Tsunoda.
In a video shot before the launch of AlphaTauri’s 2023 challenger, the drivers, Nyck-5’6″ and Yuki-5’3″, went to an NBA game between the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls, where they had a candid conversation with the Formula Media team. When asked about which of the four American games/leagues, NBA, NFL, Baseball, and NHL, would de Vries have preferred, he revealed his pick joking, “Basketball, we didn’t get the genes, so NFL basketball out of the equation. Baseball actually doable.”

“Basically all the best speed skaters train like basically 20 minutes from my home. They are kind of inspiration to me. Their work ethic is just from another level,” he added while talking about ice hockey.
The drivers appear to have great chemistry despite only being in each other’s company for a few weeks. Would this translate into better performance on the track? Quite possibly, yes.
AlphaTauri make their expectations clear for Nyck de Vries
For an incoming driver, it is necessary to have the expectations clear from day one, and the Red Bull sister team, under the leadership of Franz Tost, has ensured just that.
