While the possibilities of new teams coming to Formula 1 look slim at the moment, many former as well as new teams seek entry into the pinnacle of motorsports. With Audi joining F1 as a Power Unit supplier in 2026, the excitement levels of the fans couldn’t be less. Recently, rumors also started floating of Ford making a return to the sport with a possible tie-up with Red Bull.

However, neither team has commented regarding the possible tie-up so far. But one thing which has been confirmed and announced is Ford Motor’s tie-up with ThorSport Racing for the upcoming 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Team owner Duke Thorson said“With twenty-eight years in the Truck Series, we look forward to the partnership with Ford Performance in NASCAR. Our pursuit of wins and championships remains at the forefront of our objectives.” They also announced former David Gilliland Racing driver, Hailie Deegan in their lineup for next season.

Mark Rushbrook, Ford Performance’s Global Director announced ThorSport’s move to Ford. Unsurprisingly, he was questioned about the rumors surrounding Ford’s potential move to F1. However, Rushbrook denied addressing anything and said“There’s a lot of speculation out there, but nothing that we’re going to comment on.”

2-time world champion Fernando Alonso questions the latest F1 technical regulations

Fernando Alonso has been around for a long time in F1. Hence, if one had to ask for an opinion, Alonso wouldn’t be a bad start. While many fans debate about whether the new regulations have worked or not, Alonso gave his say about the same.

The double world champion expressed his disappointment. The Spaniard mentioned, “The new rules were one of the reasons I came back. And yes, it was a bit disappointing for everyone to realise that things haven’t changed dramatically. There are at most two teams that can win races, as has been the case in recent years.”

The Aston Martin driver also opined that the gap between the big 3 constructors and the midfield team is still too big. He added, “In 50 percent of the races, we are one lap behind the winner. So we have not yet achieved the result that Formula 1 intended with the rules.”

Alonso finished P9 in the driver’s championship this season behind his teammate Esteban Ocon. It was a frustrating season for the Spaniard, as multiple DNFs ruined his chance of scoring more points.
