Jeff Gordon is arguably one of the biggest NASCAR racers. The 4-time winner has helped the sport reach new heights. The American driver last raced in the 2015 Ford EcoBoost 400 which was his 797th NASCAR race. He finished 6th in the race and received the plaudits of many motorsport legends and celebrities present to witness the legend’s final race.

Among the many greats present in the stands, one of them was motorsport legend, Mario Andretti. Gordon has always been a big Andretti fan and he was elated by the Italian-born American’s presence. The former F1 champion spoke highly of the retiring Jeff Gordon.

Mario Andretti said, “Well I think right from the beginning, he’s shown to be the complete package if you will. It’s just a great race driver, you know. It’s fabulous obviously that he’s able to do whatever he wanted to do on it with persona.”

He further added, “We made him an ambassador immediately. Someone that made a difference and he’s one of the icons, and made a difference in this sport, no question about it.”

Gordon had a decent final race as Kyle Bush took the championship and won the race. Moreover, the American driver could not believe he was witnessing two special racing legends for one last time.

Jeff Gordon opens up on having Mario Andretti and Lewis Hamilton for his final race

Mario Andretti and Lewis Hamilton were in the stands for NASCAR Great Jeff Gordon’s last race. The pair supported the 93 NASCAR race winner. Gordon could not believe that his final race was attended by the two racing legends.

Gordon stated, “It was so cool having [Andretti and Hamilton] at the car together and getting a picture with them, and Lewis was so cool.”

He further explained how Lewis Hamilton was curious to learn more about the sport. He added, “He wanted to know everything about the cars, the competition, the tires, the track, everything, my steering wheel. He’s a racer, and I love that.”

Jeff Gordon remains good friends with Lewis Hamilton and often visits the Mercedes driver’s races. Who is your favorite NASCAR driver of all time?
