NASCAR has been a dream project for many F1 drivers. We have seen many of them express their admiration for the competitiveness in stock racing over the years. This reminds us of the latest and one of the most exciting projects in the world of NASCAR that can be a potential game changer. It intends to bring some of the best racers from around the world to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series for a limited time.

The project is none other than Project 91 of Trackhouse Racing, which has gotten both F1 and NASCAR fans excited as it plans to bring Kimi Raikkonen, a former F1 champion and legend, to NASCAR for a few races. The Finn retired from F1 in 2021. However, he is pegged to return and drive for the team at Circuit of The Americas, Austin, Texas, where he coincidentally took his last F1 race win! Plus, it won’t be the first time he drives for the team, as he previously raced the No. 91 car at Watkins Glen, where they were certain of a top-15 finish until he crashed and finished 37th.

The fans of both the competitions, which were otherwise fighting, have thus come together to rejoice over the news since the seat is Raikkonen’s unless he refuses to do so. If the Finn does decide to come back, it’ll be a delight for everyone, as the coming together of the two sports is very rare. Respective fans keep themselves engaged in deciding which racing series is superior to the other. However, professionals like to keep their heads down and grab excellent opportunities as they come by.

Fans welcome Kimi Raikkonen to NASCAR

Raikkonen’s entry into NASCAR, albeit for a few races, would be a huge one. Fans want him to compete on the road courses, which they believe he rightfully deserves. They also didn’t let go of the opportunity to remind Trackhouse to give the Finn his water, recalling the famous radio calls dating back to his Formula 1 days.

The fans came out and joked, saying, “If he has the drink, he can win.”; “Just gotta make sure he has his water and we will be fine,” and “Leave Kimi alone, he knows what he’s doing.”

One of the Reddit users welcomed the news, acknowledging the driver’s stature, saying, “If its Kimi again sign me up for the show. Dude was absolutely wheeling it at the Glen last year before his crash.” While another, being on the side of caution, said, “I’m 100% on board for another Kimi appearance – COTA is the site of his last Grand Prix win as well! But will he want to run this race while his wife is expecting?”

The Finn’s return, even if for a few races, would mark the beginning of a new journey for the team and the driver himself. Maybe the F1 fans can get a sight of Daniel Ricciardo too, competing professionally for Trackhouse Racing.
