NASCAR has witnessed a moment through Ross Chastain, that has surprised everyone. Chastain turned a video game-like ability into a “reality,” and fans and drivers from all over the world showered their appraisals. F1 drivers, including Fernando Alonso, reacted to the stunning racing incident on his social media.
Chastain kept his number 1 car against the wall and pulled off a killer to move up from tenth place to finish in fifth. The stunning move at Martinsville helped the driver fetch a championship berth in the NASCAR playoffs.

Reacting to the race ending, the Spanish F1 driver took to his official Twitter handle to share, “This is the best thing of 2022 in motor racing! We all did this on video games with damage disable. Never thought this could become reality.”
Chastain finished the race behind winner Christian Bell, followed by Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney, and Brad Keselowski, respectively. The uncharacteristic move from Chastain saw him trump Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, William Byron, Bubba Wallace, and Chase Briscoe at the very last turn of the very last lap.
Not every driver praised Ross Chastain’s slingshot move at Martinsville
In spite of making the dream move, Ross Chastain has landed himself in trouble as other NASCAR drivers have not taken it lightly. Moreover, fellow driver Kyle Larson, who finished the race in second place, was one of the leading names to criticize the slingshot move.

During an interview post-race, Larson, who thought the move was unfair, stated, “Yeah, I’m a bit, I don’t know, embarrassed that I did because that was pretty embarrassing honestly. I think that’s not a good look for our sport. I don’t know what you guys think, probably think it’s cool, but it was pretty embarrassing.”
Despite the Hendrick Motorsports driver pointing out the move as wrong, NASCAR fans, however, were quick to remind him of what he did with Denny Hamlin in Darlington last year! The Internet never forgets, Kyle Larson.
