Hamilton, the Mercedes star driver, took his F1 car on the streets and performed some donuts with the lights fitted underneath. As the new F1 theatric went viral, personalities from NASCAR began to call this out for being a copied stunt.
Erik Jones, the NASCAR Cup Series driver, had an objection to the new F1 theatric. The Petty GMS driver took this on Twitter as he wrote, “why they gotta copy us” by quote tweeting the official F1 clip that showed the Lewis Hamilton Clip.
Admittedly, NASCAR introduced the same underglow lights in their car in 2020. The All-Star Race at Bristol Motor Speedway saw the motorsport experiment with these kinds of lights. Now, two years down the line, NASCAR personality and fans alleged F1 of copying them.
Fans got divided on the matter
As Jones put up his objections, the fans got divided. On one side, there was the NASCAR driver, and on the other were fans who applauded F1’s efforts. The fans took to Twitter to share their own thoughts about the entire event.
Given below are some of the fan reactions taken from Twitter.
