Everyone, including you and me, switches on the TV when there’s a battle for the championship title going on. However, this season feels like Max Verstappen had already run away with the championship. With the championship hope fights over, even the Glam of the Tennis court, Serena Williams and Roger Federer could not save F1 from losing at the hands of an old American player.

Ever since Liberty Media has taken over Formula 1, most of the focus has been shifted to increasing the audience and the reach of the sport. The Netflix Docuseries Drive to Survive was released for the same purpose as people love drama. To help gain traction in the USA, Miami, and Las Vegas GP were introduced. Despite all these efforts, the domestic-bred American motorsport NASCAR beat F1.

The Miami GP was held last weekend, and the paddock was full of stars. Tennis legends Serena Williams and Roger Federer were among those who were spotted on the track. One would assume the glamor of celebrities and the adrenaline of F1 would attract loads of audiences. However, that was not the case, as F1 lost to the NASCAR race on the same weekend with respect to views. NASCAR almost had 50% more views when compared with F1 as they beat F1 by 700,000 viewers.

According to the VF1 podcast by VF and Vincenzo, the host when talking about the F1’s Miami GP viewers said, “They received 1.646 million for the full window which includes Pre-race, which was down from 2.066 million last year, the direct comparison.”

Talking about the NASCAR race on the same weekend he added, “NASCAR also had a race on Sunday, they were on FS1. F1 was beaten by NASCAR by nearly 700,000 viewers. So there were 2.352 million viewers on cable, FS1 for NASCAR’s race.”

The upgrades that McLaren got at Baku have not shown any promise yet. Despite Jeff Bezos visiting the garage, McLaren’s finished a mere P17 and P19. Andrea Stella explains how McLaren will be bringing upgrades in parts. British GP and Canadian GP are the ones to receive the updates.

According to Speedcafe.com, Andrea Stella said, “It will definitely be before the summer break, and we are distributing these upgrades across Canada and Britain. We will be avoiding Austria because it’s a sprint event, and given the size of the package, we are not confident of doing it there. Yes, we did it in Baku because it was just the floor, but now there’s more redesign involved, and the (second) floor we will delay until Britain.”
