Time traveler moved a chair and Lewis Hamilton chose to drive for Ferrari as opposed to his claims of being with Mercedes till the end of time. This poetically unsettling yet beautiful shock left Carlos Sainz out of a seat yet again. While Sainz had once claimed “Red is my destiny”, the Red team chose a practical approach and left their only race winner of 2023 high and dry.
When the whole world celebrated the magical matrimony of Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari, Sainz took to Instagram to put up a story stating how it certainly wasn’t ideal to go into a season with such uncertainty. And the entire world sympathized. Sainz, who scored 2 wins, 5 Pole positions, and 16 podiums for Ferrari, is certainly a very deserving driver who needs to stay on the grid. Speaking to Formu1a.uno, Sainz explained that his phone hadn’t stopped ringing ever since the announcement.
“Obviously my phone has been quite busy lately, especially in the last couple of weeks where I have received so many messages of support and encouragement, which have been a great help.”

Reflecting further about finding out about the news Sainz added, “As it was for the whole F1 world, obviously it was a surprise for me too. As you can imagine, I received the news a little earlier than anyone else, but then I had a few weeks to think about it. This gave me time to digest it, draw my own conclusions and start focusing on the 2024 season.”

It is the greatest thing to have Lewis Hamilton aboard their crimson red machine and Frederic Vasseur managed to make that happen. While he landed the deal of his lifetime, he also had to do the dirty and difficult work of breaking this to the man who was getting forced out of a seat despite being the sole bringer of the victory flag at Maranello.

“As you can imagine, it was not the easiest call of my life,” the Frenchman commented during the SF-24 launch. “One of the most difficult, [along] with the one with Toto [Wolff]! But I’m fully convinced that he is a very professional driver, that he understands that we have a long season in front of us, [that it’s] a huge opportunity. In this situation [he has] the team behind him. We had a long discussion, as you can imagine, [and] I will be fully supportive with Carlos. He’s fully committed and we know that we are to do the job together. We are professional,” he added.
