The man who has the second most wins in Singapore after Sebastian Vettel showcased exactly why that’s the case. Hamilton showcased some blistering speed throughout the session to clinch P3. However, a second-row start for tomorrow’s race was a disappointing result for the Brit.

Hamilton sat on the provisional pole position for most of the final qualifying session and was only one-tenth behind pole sitter Charles Leclerc. It was surely a powerful performance from the Brit that surprised everyone and gave his fans much-needed hope for the race.

Hamilton and his fandom will hope for his maiden race victory in the current season. Although it will be easier said than done, as Mercedes is still arguably the third fastest on the grid. Despite the incredible result, only Hamilton’s side of the garage will be celebrating.

George Russell, aka Mr. Saturday, just could not find the same pace as his teammate on the street circuit. Shockingly, Russell crashed out of the qualifying in the second session and did not make it to Q3.

Lewis Hamilton fans mock George Russell after botched qualifying

The young Brit was outperforming the 37-year-old at the start of the season. However, his performance during the qualifying session shocked everyone.

Russell has been finishing consistently in the top five. However, doing the same here, starting from P11 on the street circuit, will be an incredibly difficult task.

Probably not best for team morale, but Hamilton fans are now taking to Twitter to mock “Mr. Saturday”.
