Daniel Ricciardo has probably gone through the worst phase of his F1 career. Since he left Red Bull, Ricciardo has not really enjoyed the best time at Renault and McLaren. And now he finds himself on the sidelines without a seat. Although amongst all this turmoil 2023 might bring some good vibes into the Honey Badger’s life. Daniel, now a Red Bull reserve driver might get a golden opportunity he has always dreamt of.

Red Bull has planned to do a show run at the famous Mount Panorama track in Australia for the 2023 Bathurst 12-Hour event. The Milton Keynes squad will be making a special appearance of its 2011 championship-winning car – the RB7.

Daniel’s role as a reserve driver also includes marketing and commercial show runs. So it makes complete sense Red Bull might have the Australian in the RB7 around Bathurst. Even Ricciardo has been wanting to drive Australia’s most famous race track for years now, be it in the V8 supercars or an F1 car.

Even the authorities are delighted to have RBR around the mountainous track. As per the West Australian, talking to media, the Bathurst event director Shane Rudzis said, “Oracle Red Bull Racing are the current Formula 1 World Champion.”

“Just to have them at the event is a privilege, but to know that the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car will be lapping Mount Panorama will be something else.”

“This will be a spectacle like nothing we’ve seen at the 12 Hour before and takes the event to an entirely new level.”

What can Daniel Ricciardo do to keep his Racing and Competitive Spirits going amid his F1 sabbatical?

Ricciardo is not the first driver to be on the sidelines in F1. Even past world champions have taken a sabbatical. Although they went and tried something else to keep the fire burning in their bellies, before returning to F1. Should the Aussie do the same?

Let’s take the example of Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard temporarily retired in 2018 and then resumed his quest to complete the Triple Crown. A rare and prestigious achievement only held by 2-time F1 champion Graham Hill to date. Alonso already was a Monaco GP winner and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2018.

While he failed to win IndyCar to complete the Triple Crown, he managed to pull off a successive victory at Le Mans in 2019. The Honey Badger can be inspired by the same to have his shot. He won in Monaco in 2018 and 5 years later, Daniel might want to take a shot at IndyCar and Le Mans.

Ricciardo can also race in the Endurance series besides just competing in Le Mans as Fernando did. Whether he wishes to do it or not, is his outlook. Although the Triple Crown is one of the rare achievements in motorsport that the Australian can complete.

Besides that, he also has the option to race in the Australian V8 series or NASCAR. But Daniel has already denied a switch for the latter. As he aims to only race in F1 at the moment.
