We have seen what a beast Max Verstappen is on an F1 track in the last two years. One would think excelling at the pinnacle of open-wheel car motorsport would satiate his need for speed. However, we recently found out he is quite a MotoGP fan, and the only thing stopping him is the orders from Red Bull.

Max Verstappen recently sat down for an interview with MotoGP. To accompany him was none other than 6-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez. In the fun brief interview, they asked Max, “For Max, what is the most fascinating thing about MotoGP?”
Max Verstappen replied, “These guys are crazy. I mean the speeds you have on the street, the horsepower on the bike, I would like to try it one day. I’m still not allowed to do it.”
To this, Marc asked him why it was so. The Dutchman responded that the team didn’t allow him. The MotoGP champion then told him he could ride now given it’s an off-season for him to which Max hilariously responded, “Yeah I can break a leg.” The F1 champion is not far from his assessment because, as per Box Repsol, MotoGP bikes clock 111 MPH on average.
Marquez suggested to him he could just ride in the easy mode, which Max did not want to do as he enjoyed going fast. Marc asked him if he wanted to get his knee to the ground while turning. Max replied, “Exactly, you need to look good for the pictures.”
After a fun back and forth between the two racers, Verstappen told how fascinated he was with how physically demanding MotoGP was. He also hailed the sport for having several manufacturers, who are all capable of winning the GPs.

Max Verstappen’s desire to ride a MotoGP bike is not new
Verstappen’s fascination with MotoGP is not new. In a 2018 interview with De Telegraaf, he expressed his desire to try a bike out, given Red Bull was a competitor in the other sport as well. The request was, however, denied then as well.

Max revealed, “Red Bull is also a sponsor in MotoGP with Honda and KTM. I’d love to try one on a circuit, such as the Red Bull Ring. But no chance. They absolutely said no.”
