The team not only booted Ricciardo off his seat but also replaced him with another Australian. This scenario was made worse when Lando Norris voiced his extremely unsympathetic remark toward his old friend. Suffering brings people closer, and that is exactly what is happening in the McLaren camp. Oscar Piastri and Norris have been struggling since the start of the season with their cars. However, this has united the McLaren men earlier than anyone could’ve imagined. According to Norris, as quoted by Motorsport Week, Piastri has an incredible attitude and he gets along very well with his new friend. Look away Daniel Ricciardo fans!

“All of it is good, to be honest. He’s a very normal guy. Down to earth. No ego. Just yeah, a normal guy. We get on really well. He’s extremely good, competitive, good team-mate,” said Norris. “I think we’ve already built up a good amount of respect and trust towards one another.” Norris also added, “I prefer to get along with my team-mate than not. I always try to make it work in better ways.”

Piastri also reciprocates this respect, although he has more than one friend in the garage. Perhaps Norris’ attitude towards new teammates is what helps breaks the ice. However, we still can’t understand why the Brit was unsympathetic towards Ricciardo. Let us recall exactly what he said.

Amidst his struggles with McLaren, which led to the early contract termination, the entire F1 world was siding with Ricciardo. No one had doubts about Ricciardo’s quality. This is exactly why everyone was equally confused by his poor set of performance. While everyone was sympathizing with Ricciardo, his friend and teammate made an extremely uncharacteristic remark.

When asked if he sympathized with Ricciardo, Norris said, “I would say no. People will probably hate me for saying it. You know, he’s a great guy, a lot of fun. But, the same with many things, if you don’t perform and get the results, then, uh…that’s life,”
