Valtteri Bottas has had a fairly successful career in Formula One. Although he hasn’t won a world title, despite racing for Mercedes, he has helped them win 4 out of their 7 back-to-back world titles.
Mercedes have often praised the Finn for being a great teammate with Team Principal Toto Wolff calling him a “perfect teammate” to Lewis Hamilton.
However, Bottas has the chance to mark an individual landmark in his career at the Monaco Grand Prix. This landmark involves all-time great Michael Schumacher, and it’s a landmark no one could imagine the Finn would break since he joined Williams in 2013, before moving to Mercedes in 2017.

Valtteri Bottas on course to one up Michael Schumacher’s points tally
Valtteri Bottas currently occupies 7th place in the all-time drivers’ list for points scored. Across 160 starts, the Finn has scored 1,559 points. He’s scored these points through 9 race wins, 59 podiums and multiple points finishes.
He’s just 7 points behind Michael Schumacher on the list, who has 1,566 points. The German has amassed this tally through 91 race wins and 155 podiums, along with multiple points finishes.
Can Bottas get the job done in Monaco?
Bottas has the chance to better Schumacher’s tally and take 6th place on the all-time points list. He needs to score 8 points, which can happen as early as the Monaco Grand Prix next weekend.
To overtake the 7-time World Champion, Bottas will need to finish 6th or higher in Monaco. Given the narrow streets of Monaco and Mercedes’ pace, Bottas should be able to secure those points.

A good qualifying session is often key in Monaco since overtaking is very difficult in the streets. Should Bottas qualify P6 or higher, he’s most likely to finish in that range as well.
Should Bottas overtake Schumacher, he will be 6th on the list, just behind Nico Rosberg. While Rosberg’s total stands at 1,594.5 points, Bottas can overtake that total as the season progresses as well.

With 19 races left, there’s every chance for Bottas to finish 5th on the list by the end of the season. In addition, should he overtake Rosberg, he would be the 2nd highest points scorer from Mercedes.
Where will the Finn end up on the all-time points list by the end of his career? We’re yet to find out.
