Is Lewis Hamilton's Olympic dream over, or is there still hope for Paris 2024?

He may fight tooth and nail against his competitors on the racetrack, but off of it, Lewis Hamilton is a true friend. The 7-time World Champion might be busy with his endorsements, his philanthropy, and his massive F1 schedule, but he always finds time to support his friends. Given his world-class athlete status, Lewis regularly rubs shoulders with the who’s-who of other sports fields like Serena Williams, in the tennis sphere. Now, one of his friends is the Olympian Miles Chamley-Watson. The UK-born American fencer has the Paris Olympics 2024 coming up, and Hamilton just revealed if he will be there to support his ‘bestie’.

Miles Chamley-Watson created an uproar with his bronze finish at the Rio 2016 Olympics, but he missed out in Tokyo. This year, the 34-year-old will make his third Olympics appearance, and perhaps, he will want to grab a gold medal. While Chamley-Watson takes on the best fencers from around the world, he will need the support of his close friends. He has been spotted alongside Hamilton around the F1 paddock multiple times, and Chamley-Watson recently appeared in a photo with Lewis at the 15percentpledge fundraiser gala.

As Miles has graced Lewis’ F1 races on several occasions, it is time for the Silver Arrows racer to return the favor. However, when an interviewer questioned the 39-year-old about his potential trip to Paris, his answer was not at all promising. Lewis Hamilton said, “So, I have a really good friend, Miles Chamley-Watson, who’s competing in fencing. We’ve been supporting each other all the time, and we talk pretty much every day. So, I know how hard he’s been working, and I would love to be with him on that.

He continued, “But I’m also aware of me being present at certain events. For example, if I go see my brother’s race, I know how much extra pressure it brings. So, I haven’t committed to it yet. Finding Lewis Hamilton speaking so highly about him, Miles Chamley-Watson shared the Instagram reel on his stories, and he also reacted to the Mercedes racer’s kind words, saying, “Besties support each other.

What deserves special mention here is a little confession that Lewis Hamilton has made about the Olympics. He might join his friend Miles Chamley-Watson in the near future because he just claimed he has plans to become an Olympian himself!

Lewis Hamilton reveals his Olympic dreams

As if being one of the best Formula 1 racers in history was not enough, Lewis Hamilton now wishes to go to the Olympics too. There, the soon-to-be Ferrari racer claimed, “I don’t think I’m good enough to get an Olympic medal (in surfing). But maybe I’ll do an Olympic sport one day (if I’m not too old).” With this, the 103-time Grand Prix winner has sent his fans into a frenzy already.

Is Lewis Hamilton's Olympic dream over, or is there still hope for Paris 2024?

Have an interesting take?

In spite of what Lewis Hamilton says, he is not going away from motorsports anytime soon. Next year, he will take up a role as a Ferrari racer, as he has signed a massive $100M deal with the oldest and most successful F1 team. With this, the Briton will have to walk away from an allegiance with Mercedes, which has been going strong since 2013.

Ever since the news of Lewis leaving the Silver Arrows went public, several reports have claimed Toto Wolff is unhappy with the decision. Some sources even claimed the Austrian is trying to sabotage Hamilton’s races because he is leaving his team next year.

However, Lewis Hamilton has performed brilliantly in the last few races to dispel all the rumors about Mercedes sabotaging his scores. At the recently-held Austrian GP, he narrowly missed out on a podium finish as he came fourth. Before that, in Spain, he clinched his first podium victory of the season with a third place behind fellow Briton Lando Norris.

Now, Lewis is gearing up for a showdown at his home race – the British GP. Do you think Hamilton will perform perfectly in Silverstone this weekend so that he can later celebrate his feat with ‘bestie’ Miles Chamley-Watson? Let us know in the comments.
