It’s the start of a brand new season, but not much has changed for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. Max Verstappen continues to dominate with a much quicker Red Bull and the Silver Arrows have further fallen down the pecking order. That is because there is another big fish that has entered the pond, Fernando Alonso. Despite finishing at an underwhelming P5, the Briton remained positive on the team radio. That, however, did not go down too well among the fans.

Before Alonso took the podium finish after overtaking Carlos Sainz, he was embroiled in an epic battle with Hamilton. The showdown threw fans down memory lane as they recalled their multiple on-track fights from their time as teammates together at McLaren.

Hamilton and Mercedes took a beating of a lifetime last year. The Briton, for the very first time in his F1 career, went a full season without a race win. Despite that, he stayed positive, thanking his team for putting in their effort on the car.

He continued with the same attitude as the race in Bahrain came to a close. He told that he was proud of them for all the hard work they had put in the last two weeks. Hamilton also told them that he knew this wasn’t the result they were expecting, but he believed in them to deliver.

This did not go down too well with the fans as they wanted him to take the team to the task for once and point out their flaws. Others lauded him for keeping a cool head despite the repeated failures.

One fan admitted they would not have been able to keep themselves as calm as Lewis has after the disaster in Bahrain.

Another fan lauded him for keeping his cool and not lashing out at the team.
