Mick Schumacher’s Jeddah Tragedy Magnifies Haas’ Unlucky F1 Spell Ahead of Australian GP

Mick Schumacher had a horrible crash at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix qualifying. He crashed into the wall pretty hard and had to be taken to the hospital for further checks. His Haas was also left in tatters. And it was decided by team principal Guenther Steiner to not rebuild his car for the race.

Hence, Schumacher did not get a chance to rectify his mistake in the race. Since then, the team has been working tirelessly to rebuild the car at its base so that they can race in Australia this week. The team had to break curfew to change certain components of the car. Meanwhile, Steiner warned his drivers that they will not be any more chassis for their drivers if they keep crashing.

Guenther Steiner provides an update on Mick Schumacher’s car

Haas decided to not work on Schumacher‘s car for Jeddah so that they can put effort into building a spare chassis. The team decided to work on it between the races and bring it to Melbourne.

Steiner mentioned the entire process of rebuilding an entire chassis was quite tough for the team members back at the base.

“It was pretty tough for the guys. Last night we broke the curfew because the guys wanted to get ahead for this morning, so tonight we don’t have to go over it. Breaking one curfew was worthwhile to get to a good point,” said Guenther.

“You need to bring as many parts as you can in the moment. You cannot bring more, there is nothing in stock anymore. All what you’ve got, you bring here. But there’s no spare chassis, no safety net here, so they need to be careful. Otherwise, we’ll start again with one car!” said the Haas team boss.

The drivers might not have the luxury of crashing once again in the upcoming races. Both of them need to find the limit on the track and know when they can push at their maximum.

The team cannot afford to keep working on damaged cars and lose ground on its rivals in terms of development. This season has provided a great opportunity for Haas to claw back the advantage that they didn’t have in the past 3 seasons.
