The legacy of Michael Schumacher is a hard one to carry on. Especially for his son, who will constantly be compared to his dad. Though Mick Schumacher does not have a driver’s seat in F1 in 2023, he has been doing impressive work as a reserve driver for Mercedes and McLaren. Mick Schumacher was all set to give a beautiful tribute to his dad at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. However, his dream has been put aside as the event organizers have something else in mind.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a spectacle for all Motorsport fans. It’s “The world’s greatest celebration of motorsport and car culture!”, as described on their website. And Schumacher was scheduled to drive his dad’s 2011 Mercedes W02 to honor the 7-time champion. The fans would have gotten to hear the sweet sound of the V8 engine and ‘MSC’ drive the W02 in his father’s red helmet and racing suit. But it is not to be as Saturday’s entire program has been canceled by the organizers. And all this is because the weather gods aren’t cooperating.

After consulting meteorologists, and health and safety experts, they have decided to not go ahead with the Saturday activities. They said in a statement on their website: “On-site safety is our highest priority and the forecasted high winds will pose a serious risk to various temporary structures across the site. We politely ask that you do not travel to Goodwood or attempt to access the site.”

Mick Schumacher Impresses With Good Pace In 2021 McLaren Race-Winning Car

Schumacher was put in and asked to test the MCL35M in Portimao, Portugal, earlier this week. It was the same car with which Daniel Ricciardo won the Italian GP in 2021. And McLaren CEO Zak Brown applauded his performance after the testing was done. But it wasn’t just his performance that grabbed eyeballs.

Schumacher’s comments after the testing made more headlines than his performance did. He said, as quoted by Mirror, “My first test with McLaren was great, we did so many laps out there. It’s been really good to get that experience with the team. It is a great team and a great bunch of people. I wouldn’t say no to another test with McLaren.”
