Formula 1 has finally returned to Japan after two years of gap. The most prestigious form of motorsport was not in the Asian country in 2020 and 2021, due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As F1 returns to the land of the rising sun, every team looks forward to being better than they were in Singapore. Sadly, for Haas and Mick Schumacher, the weekend started off with trouble.

It was the first practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix and Mick Schumacher crashed against the barrier. The crash came at the worst possible time for the German driver as his team will have to suffer heavy costs to repair the car and get it ready for the race.
As per reports, the FP1 was already over and the engineers and mechanics were all wrapping things up and preparing for FP2, and that was when the crash took place.
With the second Haas seat still not reserved for Mick Schumacher, the German has to show promising performances in order to hold on to that seat. It seems Schumacher is in a duel with his fellow compatriot Nico Hulkenberg for the second Haas seat.

The American team boss Guenther Steiner is unhappy with the way the crash took place. In a report published by The Race, Steiner conveyed, “In the end, it was self-inflicted. Yeah, there was a spray, there was water, but you know that.”

I mean he's not wrong, Mick isn't helping himself. Being well liked isn't enough to keep an F1 seat.

Moreover, when asked if he had talked with the driver after the crash, Steiner asserted, “No. Sometimes less is more. I did not speak with him.”
I think Mick just found his route out of F1. That guy must have caused more financial damage to his team at this point than he could have earned for them this season. A small team cannot afford Mick Schumacher. He seems like a nice kid, but he's not good enough for this sport.

Suspect today was rather costly for Mick Schumacher. #F1 #JapaneseGP

All in all, things look quite tricky for Mick Schumacher from here on. If the German fails to deliver in the coming races, the seat might not be his to keep anymore.
Did you watch the crash? What do you think about the situation?
