The former Haas man, Mick Schumacher, walked away from the grid as the season of 2022 came to an end. Disheartened with the way things ended at Haas, the young German was lost in terms of figuring his way forward in the game. However, as a saving grace, came a role in play for the German lad. Walking in his legendary father, Michael Schumacher‘s footsteps, Mick Schumacher has now joined forces with Mercedes. The German boy will be filling the role of the reserve driver at the Silver Arrows from the season of 2023.

Mercedes and the Schumacher’s have always shared a special bond. Now, extending support, praise and comfort, Wolff and the Schumacher family have been close. Wolff has often talked highly of Mick and vice versa. It’d be rather interesting to see this relationship evolve toward achieving a mutual goal.
Mick shared his thoughts on his new move in the sport. In an interview, he said, “It means a lot.”
“I mean, my dad has been part of this team from 2010 until 2012. Obviously, it was a lot of the foundations of what it’s today. So I’m very proud of being part of it now. Hopefully, I’ll be able to help them to go forwards and progress and contribute my knowledge to it.”
“I’ve always felt very close to Mercedes, not only because of the history with my family, but also just because of F3 and the time that I got to spend here when I was younger, and yeah, just the relationship that I have with Toto as well,” he added.

Toto Wolff is ecstatic to welcome Mick to the Silver Arrows family
The Mercedes main man, Toto Wolff, has always shown his support and admiration for the young German driver. He is excited to have Mick onboard the Silver Arrows team. Toto Wolff highlighted Mick’s endearing qualities that make him a good driver.
“He is a hard worker, has a calm and methodical approach, and is still hungry to learn and improve as a driver,” said the Austrian.

Wolff is convinced that using Mick’s skill set, his expertise, and his vigor to succeed would help develop the W-14 to its best possible potential.
“Mick is a talented young driver and we’re delighted to have him join the team,” Wolff added.
