Mick Schumacher has had an average start to his Formula One career. The German driver could not score any points in his debut season but showcased some noteworthy performances. In his first season in the sport, Mick has developed a student-teacher relationship with fellow German driver Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel acts as a mentor to Mick and helps him whenever he can. Mick stated that Seb’s friendship is more valuable to him than his mentorship on the track.

As reported by Crash.net, Sebastian Vettel has helped the young Schumacher on various occasions in the 2021 season. He guides Mick the same way Mick’s father Michael Schumacher guided the four-time world champion. Mick mentioned that Vettel’s friendship is more important to him than his guidance.

“It’s definitely great. But more so than being my mentor, he’s my friend. I think that is something which is much more valuable to me. That’s the more important part to me,” said Mick on Seb Vettel.

Schumacher mentioned it is weird to have drivers who raced against both him and his father. Drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and Kimi Raikkonen have battled the seven-time world champion.

“Yeah, thinking that they raced two generations, it must be surreal for them too. It must make them feel… (laughs as he purposely avoids saying ‘old’)… Like they’ve been in the sport for quite a while.
Unfortunately, it was not as much battling as I would like it to be. But hopefully, some of them are going to be there next year, so hopefully, I can repay the favor and get to battle with them again,” said Mick.

It would be fun to have Mick battling against the likes of Hamilton and Vettel more often in the races. Hopefully, the young Haas driver will get his opportunity to showcase his talent and score some points in the 2022 season.
