Mick Schumacher reacts to Carlos Sainz’s contract extension with Ferrari
Mick joined the sport last season as a rookie and impressed everyone with his ability to outperform his teammates every time by dragging the most out of an uncompetitive car. But the young German driver still lacks the experience required to join such a big team.
He has not even scored a point in Formula One thus far and is currently fighting in the midfield. Schumacher was in good spirits about the news and revealed that his focus was on improving himself at Haas.
Mick was asked about Carlos‘s contract renewal: "I think it was expectable in many ways. Of course Carlos did a mega job last year, so he deserves it. For me it doesn‘t mean anything different than usual. I do my job here, trying my best and the opportunities will come."#SkyDE pic.twitter.com/koWZg85TDm

“I think it was expectable in many ways. Of course, Carlos did a mega job last year, so he deserves it. For me, it doesn’t mean anything different than usual. I do my job here (at Haas), trying my best, and the opportunities will come,” said Mick.
AlphaTauri boss Franz Tost had earlier revealed that the German driver needs a little more time with Haas. “He has to drive somewhere else for another three years.”

“Formula 1 is extremely complicated today. A driver needs at least three years of learning to drive at the top level. A George Russell or a Charles Leclerc also needed that time,” said Tost.

It is nice to see that Mick is handling the situation very well despite encountering tough news. Although he was in consideration for the job at Ferrari, it was highly unlikely that the team would change the driver’s lineup.
Schumacher might get his first real chance to join the Reds at the end of the 2024 season when Carlos’ new contract expires.
