Mick Schumacher is currently in his rookie season with the Haas F1 team. However, the team did not perform up to the expectations this season, and they are placed at the bottom of the constructors’ standing. The season was a tough one for Schumacher as well; he hasn’t been able to open his points tally in the season so far. Nevertheless, it was a learning experience for the young German.
Schumacher Junior won the FIA F2 championship 2020 and came in with a lot of expectations for his first F1 season. Truth be told, he is not the most ideal car or alongside an experienced teammate as well. However, he certainly seems to learn from the intense duel between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

“I especially enjoyed the duel with Max (Verstappen; d. Ed.) In Budapest. That’s when I showed that I can extend my elbows and keep faster cars behind me,” said the Haas driver.
While answering what he has learned from this duel, he had a rather optimistic answer. “Certainly a lot. And that’s important for next year when I’ll hopefully be able to duel with other drivers in midfield.”

Schumacher will take positives from the season
The first season was not an ideal one for the former GP2 champion but he will take positives out of it for the upcoming season. He suffered a lot of car failures this season, which the team will look to rectify in the future. He mentioned three positives he would take out of the current season. “First: I learned a lot. Second: I can take away a lot of positive things. I would save the third set for the end of the season. Maybe there is still a good race around the corner”
The German is also grateful to Sebastian Vettel who helped him through his initial phase. “He is also an extremely nice person and a very good friend in his private life.”
