Mercedes boss advises Mick Schumacher in the face of harsh criticism

Under so much scrutiny and articles being written in the media, Mick Schumacher has found an unusual ally. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff gave his verdict on the situation.   

In an interview with a German media outlet, RTL Media; Toto Wolff delved into the issues that were plaguing Mick in his 2022 season. He even gave advice to the 23-year-old and put out his thoughts on what he would do as a Team Principal of Mick.

“I don’t read on the Internet and don’t listen to heckling, but do my thing,” said Wolff. The Mercedes Team Principal, who also noted that the former Formula 2 champion was just in his second season, is convinced that Mick can go a long way in his career.

Mick Schumacher has been unable to score any points so far this season. Compared to his teammate, Kevin Magnussen, who has been able to score Haas’s only points this season, Schumacher has a mountain to climb.

Till now it is the only car not to have any upgrades and still contest for points. On a sunny afternoon in Baku, Magnussen was in a point-scoring position when he had to retire due to engine issues. However, Mick Schumacher didn’t fare any better.

Lingering at the bottom and just ahead of Nicholas Latifi, the German was a long way off the points. “We clearly weren’t [able to make progress on Sunday]. It’s something that we have to look at,” said Mick. “I think we didn’t have one Safety Car, no red flag either. I think I was betting on three Safety Cars and one red flag at least! But it didn’t happen, so obviously we did our maximum and the pace was just not there.”
