A man following his father’s boot steps, Mick Schumacher, has honored his father in multiple ways ever since his entry into F1. He rightly idolizes his father, a phenomenon of the sport. In addition to the physical aspects of paying an ode to his father, the Haas rookie looks to carry on the legendary name further; glorifying his father through his own career.

The Michael Schumacher name is synonymous with Scuderia Ferrari. In a recent podcast appearance, Schumacher explained his hopes to drive in red. A Ferrari Academy driver, the German explained his fascination with the marque’s history.

“It is nice to be able to say that I am part of the Ferrari family. Then obviously the whole history that people combine with Ferrari & Schumacher.”

A thrilling possibility of coming full-circle, Mick has his eyes on the Prancing Horses. “It is a very special combination & hopefully something that can be revived in the future.”

However, if he wants to fulfill the Red Baron’s legacy, Schumacher knows what he has to bring to the table. As a Ferrari protege, he looks to fulfill certain goals in the coming season. “I know what I have to do. I know to prove myself. They have always been keeping a close eye on me & helping me in many different ways.”

As the new era of the Schumacher name is on the horizon, the idea of seeing Mick in the Italian outfit would be enthralling.

As much as Schumi Jr sticks close to his father’s legacy, he doesn’t let his surname define him. Making his name for himself, the rookie has been trying to push his machine further than its capacity. Although Haas hasn’t been able to do much justice to the German’s skills, they don’t go unnoticed on the grid.

A competitive driver, Schumacher knows that with the name, comes the responsibility of living up to it. In an interview with ESPN, the driver explained the pride in the name.

“I’m very proud carrying the name into Formula One again and being able to race and feel my performance. I keep it and wear it very proudly.”

The revived MSC often finds itself at the bottom of the timesheets. However, with Haas’ hopes and plans for the 2022 season, it may not stay there much longer. Regardless, Mick knows he has what it takes to bag the red seat. If he puts up an impressive performance next season, the deja vu may hit F1 sooner than later.
