Formula 1 drivers go through a series of physical and mental exercises to keep themselves capable of handling the high adrenaline of driving an F1 car. Of course, each driver follows their own strategies to keep themselves focused through a race. Similarly, Mick Schumacher, too, has one, and it seems to be working well.
The son of seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher, joined the F1 grid for the ongoing 2021 season with the Haas F1 team.
And for any driver that’s making a leap into F1 from other racing series, an upswing in mental work is a primary requirement. This is because of the massive increase in speed, G-force, and decrease in grip.

What did Mick Schumacher say?
As reported by Sport1, the young German opened up that talking to himself has been one of the most helpful strategies in staying concentrated while behind the wheel.
“Somebody once told me it was very helpful to talk to yourself in the car. When I first heard that, I thought, ‘Hm, sounds weird’. But it’s actually very, very helpful,” the F1 rookie said. (Translated from German using Google Translate)
The German may have joined the F1 paddock hoping to see occasional top 10 finishes over his rookie season. However, the reality doesn’t seem to be helping his wish. Haas have merely looked like a mid-field.
To make it worse, both their rival teams, Alfa Romeo and Williams witnessed growth in performance, leaving the American team to race all on their own at the bottom of the field.
