Despite it not being a race weekend, Mercedes’ actions have won fans over. And facilitating this happiness was their reserve driver, Mick Schumacher. He is yet to make a mark at the pinnacle of motorsport. But over this weekend, his heartfelt tribute to his father, Michael Schumacher, and his 2011 F1 car, with the help of $2.7 billion worth of F1 giant – Mercedes, has made him, and Mercedes fans extremely nostalgic.

So, here’s the full story. The Goodwood Festival of Speed took place over the weekend, spanning from the 13th-16th of July. It is a beautiful annual display of speed that entertains fans of any and every major motorsport. And F1, too has its place in the Festival. And this year, Mick Schumacher was scheduled to be there and drive in his father’s 2011 W02 car. When those photos made it to Instagram, fans couldn’t keep calm.

The @mercedesamgf1 Instagram page posted a photo of Schumacher standing in front of his dad’s Mercedes W02. And he was wearing his dad’s Mercedes racing suit and had the iconic bright red helmet in his hand. They captioned the post: “M. Schumacher. ❤️”. Just that initial and the name were enough to generate a wave of nostalgia that took fans on a trip down memory lane.
