Ever since the horrible off-piste skiing accident in 2013, Michael Schumacher has been off the face of the earth. His family has been taking extra care of the 7-time world champion and wants to keep him out of the media’s eye. Initially, he was in a coma but came out of it and returned home, where he was away from accessing the rest of the world.
However, things took a sudden turn last year when a German magazine, Die Aktuelle, posted an interview with the German champion. They used AI to predict the answers that Michael Schumacher would give. This was released as ‘the first interview’ after the incident and gained massive traction for the magazine. But the Schumacher family was not happy with it and opted for legal action, leading to $216,000 in compensation for the F1 interview.

Because of this incident, the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Ann Hoffman, was fired, and a public apology was provided for the ‘tasteless and misleading article’. The court favored the Schumacher family in the court proceedings, which eventually resulted in justified compensation. It was only in 2021 that the world got a genuine update on Michael Schumacher’s situation, where his wife shared the experience since the tragic accident and gave the world some intel on how the 7-time world champion is doing.

Back in 2021, Corinna Schumacher, the wife of Michael, came forth to talk about her husband’s condition post the accident on the Netflix documentary. She mentioned how her husband is “there” however he is quite “different” compared to the 7-time champion we know. In the Netflix documentary, she stated “I have never blamed God for what happened,” and blames it on bad luck.

She explained how the family goes about his condition saying, “We live together at home, we treat him, we do everything so that Michael is better and doing well and that he feels our family solidarity.” The fact that he is home and still has not recovered in over a decade has led his family to miss him.
Corinna Schumacher added, “But it’s very clear that I miss Michael every day, and not just me – the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. Everyone misses Michael.” She is relieved that he did not leave the world and states, “But Michael is there. Different, but he is there and that gives us all strength.”
Things are never going to be the same and Mrs. Schumacher told the fans, “It is important that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as he can. Michael has always protected us, now we protect Michael.”
