After a long wait, Netflix released the documentary of Michael Schumacher earlier today. Titled ‘Schumacher’, the 112-minute film details the German’s F1 career and features several interviews.

During the documentary, Michael’s wife Corrina Schumacher features prominently along with the rest of their family. In a recent appearance, Vanessa Nocker, a director of the documentary, revealed how an agreement with Corrina created a boundary while making it.

Vanessa Nocker reveals the boundary which resulted from agreement with Corrina Schumacher

In recent times, Netflix has forged a reputation for creating intriguing behind-the-scenes content on sports. While Formula 1 already features on the popular streaming platform with Drive to Survive, Schumacher adds another exciting story for fans to enjoy.

With seven world titles, Schumacher forged a legacy in the sport which drivers look up to. While a skiing accident in 2013 left him with severe injuries, the documentary paints a picture of the German’s racing days.

However, not all aspects of the German’s life made it to the documentary. Speaking to Matt Clayton on the In the Fast Lane podcast, Nocker revealed she had a gentleman’s agreement with Corrina. Their agreement allowed the 52-year-old to destroy anything they recorded which didn’t have a place in the film.

She said“We had one gentleman’s agreement with Corrina. It’s that we do the interviews, and she can tell all. In the end, if we don’t use anything that she really does not want in this film, we’re going to destroy that. So, that was the only boundary that we had. I think that’s respectful, I can live with that. As a journalist, I can easily live with that.”
