Ruthless, unforgiving, and relentless are three words anyone would use to describe Michael Schumacher on the track. Off of it, however, the German was a thoughtful, gentle giant who took care of everyone. Schumacher’s split personality only his teammates could see because his opponents always saw the ruthless side of him. However, what happens when his opponent is also his brother?

Ralf Schumacher saw his brother conquer the world of Formula 1 in front of him. Did that create any animosity between the two? According to Ralf, it did not. In fact, without the help of Michael, Ralf would never have been an F1 driver. How is the relationship now, you ask? Well, it’s complicated.

During his latest update about his brother, Ralf made an interesting comment about his relationship with his brother’s family.

Unfortunately, sometimes life isn’t fair. We have to accept it. When I see his children Gina-Maria and Mick, my heart smiles. If someone in the family is looking for my advice, I’m there. They go their own way,” said Ralf in an interview with Bunte.de.

During the 2003 Imola GP, the two Schumacher brothers secured the front row for the race. However, during the race weekend, the two were notified of their mother’s demise. Showing their candor, the Schumacher brothers participated in the race. However, Ralf Schumacher’s early lead meant Michael had to put his racing blinders on and fight for the lead, which he converted to his 65th win.

He said, “He would do anything to win. The day his mother died, the way he fought his brother to win the race [Imola 2003] was incredible. I don’t know how the hell they went fighting like that.”
