Michael Andretti Teases Re-ignition of American F1 Dream After Alfa Romeo Deal Collapse

There were a lot of talks about whether or not Alfa Romeo will be sold to Michael Andretti. However, the deal did not go through. But the American owner is still very much interested in entering the world of Formula One.

The deal for the Swiss-based team fell through at the last minute, which resulted in Andretti being disappointed. Nevertheless, the American still has hope of making an impact on the grid.

Alfa Romeo was almost bought by Michael Andretti

There was a strong rumor in the Formula One paddock of Alfa Romeo having new owners. However, the deal did not go through at the last minute, but Andretti hasn’t given up on his F1 dream.

Speaking to Motorsport week as quoted by Soy Motor, Andretti said, “It was very disappointing that the agreement was not finalized. We were literally 48 hours away from closing the deal. I would still like to do it. The opportunities are getting fewer, the equipment is not really on sale right now, but we have to see what happens in the future. There is still interest.”

Formula One is the pinnacle of racing, and therefore, Andretti hasn’t given up on his dream. He said, “I love Formula 1, it’s the best racing experience. For our brand it would be huge, it would simply take us to the highest level you can be at,” Talking about having an alternative plan, he said, “We’ll see what happens, but I’m not going to give up that. A new duo at the Swiss-based team next year

At the end of the season, Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi will part ways with the Vasseur-led team. In 2022, Alfa Romeo will welcome, Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou.
