19-lap Sprint race in the 19-turn circuit in 305! But the Miami Dolphins’ home, The Hard Rock Stadium, is also home to a massively lavish and indulgent race weekend. The Miami GP weekend continues to cause a stir for reasons good and bad. The latest is because of the exorbitant food pricing on the circuit. Fans and attendees aren’t very ecstatic about it.

But credit where it is due, the organizers know how to mint money. We saw them roll out a buy-back scheme. This year’s musical performance at the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, is so big (because of Eminem and Sting), that the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) offered to buy “early bird” tickets back from buyers and pay ticket holders an extra $50. Similar to a music festival, the Grand Prix has artists perform before the race. COTA organizers thought that they could turn a bigger profit by reselling tickets at higher prices than the initial $299 fee. and while that wasn’t enough profit, the food also stood priced almost equivalent to gemstones.

In a picture shared on Reddit, the food menu and pricing drew jaw-dropping reactions. The Maine Lobster Rolls were priced at $280, Yellowfin Tuna Poke at $170, U-5 Chilled Prawn at $290 Fruit Refresher at $190 Add 1CZ Caviar* At $400 Steamed Buns at $120. Interestingly, there was an F1 Platter as well, which was priced at $290.

This food pricing didn’t go down well with the fans.

Fans declare themselves “too poor” questioning the food pricing at Miami GP

Some fans initially paid around $300 for race tickets, with lobster rolls priced at the same. The outrage seemed justified. The food item, which is usually priced at $30, was being sold at seven times the price. The F1’s sub-Reddit community made sure that they let the world have a piece of their mind.

A user who introduced themselves as a chef called it insane and gross. He said, “I cook for a living… This is insanity and I understand working events and such but this is gross. The only way I can understand this is if vendors have to pay massive prices to be there (which isn’t abnormal) so they have to charge way more than they normally would.”

One user expressed how underprivileged he felt just looking at the prices. He wrote, “I’m too poor for looking at these price.”

Another one probably was a glass-half-full kinda person. They took a hard look at these prices in denial, thinking there might be a catch or a decimal. They wrote, “I’m over here looking for the decimal between the first 2 numbers.”

Someone also reminded the world that $290 per dish was not the actual price. They said, “Tax not included + tip”

Questioning even the fabric of the US Constitution, a Reddit user wrote, “Land of the free*…..*amenities not included”

And one even considered shifting loyalties to their homegrown format. They said, “I spent less on six Indy 500 tickets than anything with an ounce of caviar costs. A fool and his money, I suppose”

Do you think the food pricing was justified?
