Ever since the establishment of Formula 1 as a sport, in 1950, almost everything has changed about the sport. From owners to cars and their designs to venues and the popularity of the sport, everything has changed. There is only one constant, Ferrari! The Scuderia has been a part of Formula 1 from the very start and is undeniably the oldest and most successful team on the grid. However, owing to this history, a reputed journalist dragged Scuderia Ferrari’s name through the mud because of another aspect of their history.

The aspect was highlighted once again in the 2023 Mexican GP as their two drivers failed to convert a pole position into a win once again. However, this isn’t a recent fixture and has been an incessant problem for the Italian team for more than a decade.

The problem is Ferrari’s Sunday performance! Ferrari has always been one of the contenders and the front runners. However, the Italian team has hardly converted those chances into a regular win in the past 12 years. This is exactly what Leo Turrini pointed out in his latest publication.

“Queen for a spin. From Monza onwards, Ferrari has collected four poles. They are not few. But it only won on the night in Singapore – writes Leo Turrini in Il Resto del Carlino as quoted by Formula Passion.

Ferrari exhausts its geometric power on the flying lap. Unfortunately, it is an ancient problem. I’ve been hearing about it, without exaggeration, for a dozen years.” [translated via Google]

“And since it is not legitimate to doubt the preparation of the Cavallino engineers, it is clear that we are faced with an organizational and cultural deficit. In the sense that it is essential to be able to make the most of the available skills, looking elsewhere, if necessary, for the human resources needed,” he added.

In fact, this problem has become so evident even Leclerc was asked about it when he made an unwanted record.

Charles Leclerc tries to change the narrative as another pole position at the Mexican GP goes to a waste

It is no surprise Charles Leclerc has suffered a lot of heartbreaks at the hands of his team in the past couple of seasons. In 2022 alone the Monegasque missed out on a handful of wins from a leading position all thanks to the endless problems at Ferrari.

In 2023 as well, Leclerc has managed zero wins out of four pole positions including the Mexican GP. So, Leclerc has extended the record he created during the US GP to 11 races without a win after securing pole position.

However, when this statistic was highlighted by the media, the Monegasque lashed out and said, “First we need to stop talking about this statistic, because it’s said negatively.” and he isn’t wrong. However, Leclerc gave his Saturdays a positive outlook and said, “But it just means I’m doing a good job on Saturday.”

Securing pole position in this highly competitive sport is no cakewalk and the Monegasque has a knack for it.
