The Mexican GP made its way onto the racing calendar in 2015, and there were certainly questions over the fame of F1 around Mexico, which might lead to a lack of attendance level, potentially causing financial constrictions. And as expected, Mexico City did announce its withdrawal from the calendar following the 2019 season.
However, then arrived the shocker! Mexico witnessed a personal best attendance at the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix weekend. Apparently, the race weekend had 345,694 spectators attend the event, which came weeks after the British Grand Prix witnessed a total of 351,000 spectators.
A staggering 138,435 made it to the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday, say organisers. A weekend attendance of 345,694. Unbelievable that this race was under threat. Sensational event. Tremendous engagement. Nail-biting race. Can't wait till next year. #MexicanGP #F1 https://t.co/UfICq4QfJg

Consequently, the announcement arrived that Mexico would continue to stick with F1 for an additional 3 years, until 2022. Well, one of them perished due to the pandemic. Now, we await the second Grand Prix – the 2021 Gran Premio de la Ciudad de México.
More spectators likely to attend the Mexican GP?
The 2021 United States Grand Prix witnessed a shocking number of spectators turning up to the race event; the entire race weekend had an attendance of over 400,000 spectators hit the track, making it the biggest Grand Prix F1 has ever seen.

Hence, with hardly any restrictions in Mexico City either, there are massive chances that the Mexican Grand Prix, too, could announce staggering numbers by the end of the weekend. The seating capacity of the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit is around 110,000.
All seats have been booked for the weekend, indicating a full house. The number could well rise much higher in reality as well. Hence, similar to the United States GP, yet another electrifying race weekend in Mexico is in the offing.
