At the start of the race at Interlagos, McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo tangled with Haas’s Kevin Magnussen and brought out the safety car. After the safety car restart, the two old rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton got side by side with each other and collided in a similar fashion as of Monza 2021.
However, after the collision, the Dutchman didn’t go above the Briton like Monza. But it left significant damage to his front wing and forced Hamilton to drop places. When asked about the collision, the Dutchman stated, “It cost him the race win, for me, it gave me 5 seconds. [The penalty he received after the clash]“ This is what left the fans furious at the Red Bull driver.

Coming back to Verstappen’s interview in the post-race conference, he also shared, “He [Lewis Hamilton] didn’t leave me space, I knew we were going to get together.”
“It wouldn’t have mattered anything for my race, because we were just way too slow,” further asserted the two-time world champion. As the fans react to Verstappen’s take on the incident, given below are some of the reactions taken from Twitter:

He’s basically just admitted to driving into another driver on purpose. Should be banned – some world champion you have @F1 @fia. Don’t forget you chose this entitled, selfish man to lead your sport because his face fit (& we all know why that is)! #BrazilGP https://t.co/cv4pRUM1id
