Max Verstappen trailed behind the Mercedes all season. Following the Pre Qualifying Press meet, the Dutchman took back his seat. He convinced himself that with Lewis Hamilton back, he would have nothing more than P3.
However, the story for Abu Dhabi narrates something else altogether.
Max had been chasing the Mercedes the entire season. However commendable they might’ve been, his efforts were just not enough to surpass Hamilton. Although Nurburgring showed Verstappen’s true mettle, he could not grab victory.

The Sakhir Grand Prix had been disappointing for Verstappen. After securing a satisfactory grid position, he had to retire at the very first lap of the race. After a crash that could have ended worse, Max and Leclerc got caught in the gravel trap walking back to their camps.
However bad the past may be, Max doesn’t let it possess him. He does not sit back consumed by previous failures, and instead, keeps driving every weekend, giving it his all. This is the prime reason for Red Bull’s Austrian advisor’s undying faith in Max Verstappen.
