Valtteri Bottas was the happiest man around the Russian circuit following his win. The Mercedes driver, who clinched the first win of the season in Austria, came from the third place on the grid to seal a win.

Max Verstappen finished behind the Finn, and Lewis Hamilton clinched third.

The victory for Bottas meant a lot as he came close to winning one on a handful of occasions, only to miss it marginally to Hamilton. However, he stuck to his race in the Russian region and took home the victory.

Following the victory, Valtteri Bottas seemed quite happy with his performance. It will not only boost his performance but also add to his morale, which will come handy as he looks to hold on to the momentum he has gained.

It also came as a perfect jibe to his critics who mocked him stating he’ll always be under Hamilton’s shadow. “Once I was in clean air I felt that the pace was pretty awesome and that I could control everything.

“Never give up. It’s a good day. It’s nice to get another win as it’s been a while and I now need to keep the momentum going,” he said.

The thirty-one-year-old, however, faced a tricky situation during the first lap of the race. Bottas encountered a huge bee that came into his visor in Turn 2. The obstruction made it difficult for him to pick up his braking point.
