Earlier it was Mercedes not listening to Lewis Hamilton and now it’s Mercedes not sending Lewis Hamilton out on time. Well, it looks like Mercedes’ problems and Lewis Hamilton’s criticism are never-ending. This combination led to a disastrous problem on Lewis Hamilton’s side. Let’s find out what the blunder was and how Hamilton reacted to it.
What looked like a regular qualifying after Q1 really spiced up toward the second half of the show. The track witnessed stupendous action, with multiple cars running wide, and Charles Leclerc crashing out. However, the two biggest losers from the qualifying sessions were Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton faced a similar fate as George Russell had in 2022. He failed to qualify for Q3 since his final lap was not good enough to make the cut.
The Briton looked frustrated and sounded gutted after failing to qualify. Lewis Hamilton came on the radio and suggested the team let him out too late. Hamilton has now explained that because of getting out late from the pit, there were many cars in front of him who started backing down toward the end of the lap to start the flying lap. As a result, when the Briton reached the last corner, he had to slow down a lot. This caused his tires to lose temperature and consequently suffer the whole lap.

According to the tweet posted by @fiagirly on Twitter, Lewis Hamilton said, “It’s just one of those days, it’s not the best. There were a couple of moments where the car was feeling half decent, I thought that maybe I’d be able to get into Q3 but at the end, they put me out behind 7 cars or something like that…”
Talking about the tires not being in the optimum state Hamilton said, “When I got to the last corner I was the last of the group, had to back up, and lost all my temperature in the tires so, I couldn’t do it. When I started the lap I had no grip.”
This shocking Mercedes error cost Lewis Hamilton a place in the Q3 as the suffering will continue in the race tomorrow as well. The problem at Mercedes looks bigger than this late call, as even George Russell failed to get in Q3 at Baku. Nevertheless, the 38-year-old’s incident does reveal how tricky it is to get the car in a gap on a busy street circuit to get a clean lap in. However, Hamilton keeps his head high and looks forward to the main race tomorrow.
Lewis Hamilton remains optimistic despite a tragic Saturday in Miami
Lewis Hamilton is not one who backs down because of a setback. His Former teammate, Nico Rosberg, once suggested that Hamilton always comes back with a bigger bang when he falls down. Lewis Hamilton suggested that he’s going to forget the Q2 shenanigans and focus on the race tomorrow. He’ll put up a fight and make his way through the field.

According to the tweet, Lewis Hamilton said, “There’s nothing I can do about what’s happened, all I can do is try to prepare myself the best tonight.
