Max Verstappen is the talk of the town as he should be. The Dutchman made history in Monza, that will live on for years to come. The Dutchman is collecting plaudits for the incredible achievements from the entire world of F1, except the Mercedes camp. Lewis Hamilton launched a personal attack on Verstappen ahead of the race. However, it was the post-race those numbers are for Wikipediacomment from Toto Wolff that is generating all the animosity.

Wolff‘s post-race comment spread like wildfire across the world of F1 and the criticism toward the Mercedes boss began. Many labeled the comments as petty and disrespectful. Now, speaking on the NOS Formula 1 podcast, as quoted by F1 Maximaal, former engineer Ernest Knoors has also joined the list.

“Wolff and Hamilton have been very busy with Lewis’ eighth world title. Records are just for Wikipedia? It is very unbelievable and I think that is a weakness,” says the former engineer. “They are sore losers. You saw that when Max won his first world title. You can argue a lot about that, but at some point, you have to close it down and say: it’s done. You shouldn’t say that records don’t count if you’re really chasing that eighth title yourself. You’re making a bit of a fool of yourself.”

Similar to Wolff, Hamilton also made a comment about the reigning world champion, which without consideration would’ve come off as petty criticism. However, after the dust settled and after a careful revisit of Hamilton’s statement, F1 entities started agreeing with the Brit.

Agreeing with Hamilton, former driver Christijan Albers said, “The reality is that he (Hamilton) is right because Bottas was good at qualifying and Russell is of course also a serious fighter. If you look at Hamilton’s teammates in the past, he secretly has a point. Whether you like it or not. Max also sometimes says something about Lewis and we are not allowed to say anything about that?’”
