Here’s some nice irony. Mercedes built a dominant car from 2014 to 2021. Lewis Hamilton tumbled records using those cars for 7 years. Apparently, it wasn’t for Wikipedia back then. Post that, 2022 brings along a wave of Max Verstappen dominance. The Silver Arrows get a humbling in terms of performance meanwhile the Dutchman takes over the job of shattering records instead of Lewis. All of a sudden, Toto Wolff states that “those numbers are for Wikipedia, nobody reads that anyway”. Talk about sour grapes! Regardless, Red Bull folks aren’t following a nice guy regime. Thus, they have started subtly hitting back at Wolff’s jibe – including Toto’s best mate – Christian Horner.
Horner has a special connection with Verstappen’s record of 10 consecutive wins. After all, it puts the Dutch Lion just ahead of his first golden man Sebastian Vettel & his 9 consecutive wins in 2013. Thus, the Red Bull TP ain’t going to leave his counterpart just passing around comments like these.

Toto Wolff perhaps may have said so, in frustration of not winning a race so far this season. Anyone who is not enjoying this Red Bull juggernaut may get frustrated & the Mercedes boss just channeled it out. Even Verstappen echoed the same sentiments ahead of the Singapore GP, saying, “They had a bad race in Monza, so he was probably still disappointed about that.” Just a week later, Horner has intertwined his hopes for Red Bull making history again in his sarcastic take to destroy Toto’s comments.
Christian said at the Japanese GP, “If we can close out these two titles at the next few races – I know nobody looks at Wikipedia these days – but it’s an achievement we’ll be very proud of.”
There was little chance the Red Bull boss was going to miss to have banter & destroy his best foe. In all of this, it seems pretty clear that the Milton Keynes team is looking to seal the constructors & drivers championships as soon as possible.

In Suzuka, they have a realistic chance of getting the constructors. While Max may have to wait for the latter until probably Qatar or Austin. Lewis Hamilton & Toto Wolff certainly won’t join the celebrations as they would want to work on turning the tide back up for 2024.
Although is that even possible? Red Bull has looked supreme & probably has started work on their 2024 challenger as well. So, Wolff & Co. have another steep mountain to climb with problems of their own.
Can Toto Wolff & Mercedes topple Horner & Red Bull’s juggernaut in 2024?
Ever since the sun set on the 2021 season, F1 fans have been wanting a title fight again. Last season flattered to deceive with Ferrari being on the pedestal with Red Bull. But even they faltered away to fuel RBR’s dominance. Mercedes has shown some promise to come back to the forefront. However, it ain’t that easy.

The W13 was a fundamentally problematic car for the Brackley team. Barring an exceptional win in Brazil, Toto Wolff & Co. knew it was not going to close the gap to Red Bull. Thus, to give Lewis Hamilton a better chance to fight, they switched their concept for the W14 & that seems to be working in the right direction. Yet, no one is sure whether Hamilton & Co. can develop a title-winning car for 2024 or not.
Lewis has expressed his clear desire to focus on next season’s development to get into that fight at the front (which he has been a part of ever since he debuted). He said, “I don’t care in which position I finish my 2023, I just want to help the team as much as possible in development, so that we can start next year, at the first test and at the first race, with a car that has no rebounds, that has that downforce and that efficiency that we need. Then we can fight anyone. That’s my dream.”
