“Nico hit me,” shouted an outraged Lewis Hamilton. While it was a dream come true for the best friends when Mercedes replaced Michael Schumacher with Hamilton to partner with Nico Rosberg, the fairytale didn’t end well. As they say, your biggest competitor cannot be your best bud and history stood witness to what unfolded. However, who would have thought that the two who communicated with each other via their engineers would join forces in 2023?
Allying is the biggest weapon to defeat might in wars. That is probably a rule both Rosberg and Hamilton are aware of. While the retired champ recently cast doubts over Hamilton’s mega $127,000,000 contract as per Crash.net, Mercedes’ enemy number 1 Max Verstappen has brought the duo closer. The Red Bull champion has single-handedly dethroned Hamilton and kept the entire grid 30 seconds behind on multiple occasions. While the all-time record of 9 consecutive wins was equaled by Verstappen, Hamilton appeared to be in no mood to celebrate it.

The Tom and Jerry games between the besties tuned rivals might never be over. It has been 7 years since Rosberg left his former friend cum rival’s side on the track, still, the 2016 champ keeps a close check on how Lewis is fairing up. The biggest testament to that is the uncertainty that the German has expressed over Hamilton’s two-year extension.
During a Sky interview at Monza, Nico said, “It’s never done until here’s a pen to paper, and even then in F1 even that sometimes doesn’t mean much. The time might come one day where he does prefer to be on the beach or something so it is not 100 percent, but it looks like he is still enjoying himself.”
