“I was born to race and win”, said Lewis Hamilton. While the 7X champion and 103-time race winner is dedicated to the racing part of the quote, the wins haven’t been coming lately. Let alone a win, the Briton hasn’t even had a chance to fight for the win since the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. A dispirited Lewis Hamilton is believed to have been forced into a careless mistake as the frustration to fight Max Verstappen for the F1 title rises. What was the careless mistake?

The Italian GP wasn’t the greatest weekend for the Mercedes team and Lewis Hamilton. The Briton finished in P6 with the highlight of his race being the collision with Oscar Piastri. During the latter part of the race, Hamilton squeezed the Australian before turning for the chicane and touching the tire. Piastri lost his front wing while Hamilton was given a 5-second penalty. However, the former Ferrari boss thinks there’s more to that collision than what meets the eye.

Former Ferrari manager Peter Windsor advised how it was a careless move by Lewis Hamilton and probably an effect of not having the car to race at the front with Max Verstappen. Hamilton has been trying his best to get back at the top step but Mercedes just isn’t anywhere near Red Bull in terms of performance. It’s obvious for the Brit to build up frustration of having to race in the midfield regularly and that’s arguably what caused the incident as well.

According to Peter Windsor’s YouTube video, he said, “I just thought it was a careless thing from Lewis. Maybe a slight function of sadness in my mind I guess. Lewis having to race Alex Albon, Oscar Piastri, and George Russell and not racing up where he should be with Max at the front of the race. I think anybody who’s watched Lewis Hamilton over a long period of time, feels a bit dispirited of that’s what he’s having to do these days, regularly.”

Despite the frustration of failing to compete with Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton isn’t one who backs down easily. As the Briton signed a new contract with Mercedes, he shot a fiery statement in Max Verstappen’s way. What did Hamilton say?

Despite the disappointing car that Mercedes has provided to Lewis Hamilton over the last couple of seasons, the Briton resigned with the Brackley stable. The announcement was made at the Italian GP weekend as Hamilton signed a 2-year deal. During the press conference day at the Italian GP, Hamilton fired a statement at Max Verstappen and Co. as he advised that he and his team still had unfinished business.

According to The Race, Lewis Hamilton said, “And [it’s about] just living with the car that we have at the moment. [At Monza] it’s the third-fastest car and it’s obviously painful for all of us. We wish we were quicker. But we’re just counting down the days to February.”
