When will the human brain be capable of moving on from things that happened in the distant past? The 2021 championship battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton has made its way into so many different interviews this year. Probably even more than their actual present battles have. A former 3-time Grand Prix winner brought it up earlier this year, saying that Hamilton was robbed of his record-breaking 8th title. Now, he has taken a 180-degree turn to laud Verstappen and Red Bull.

The only thing that overshadowed the Dutchman’s first-ever WDC in F1 was the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP controversy. Till today, the debate goes on between the 2 fanbases – LH army and Orange army. But F1 experts give their say too. “The FIA got it wrong and Lewis Hamilton was robbed of winning his eighth world championship title, said Johnny Herbert unabashedly, before the beginning of this season.

Considering the vast experience that he has driving in F1, and winning the 1991 Le Mans 24, Herbert’s word carries some weight. But that weight has now shifted to the opposing party in the debate. Commenting on Red Bull‘s dominance after 2021, he wrote on CasinoSite, as quoted by f1maximaal, “The whole (Red Bull) team is very confident. They have earned their leadership position and deserve our full respect.”

The same stellar way in which Lewis Hamilton performs at the British GP can be said for Max Verstappen at the Dutch GP. The Dutchman has won his home GP at Zandvoort 2 years in a row. This year, with an even better car, he is looking to make it a hat trick.

“I think it was a pretty good day. We tried some things on the car,” Verstappen told Sky Sports. “We have a few things we want to improve but even on the long run, the car was handling quite well. I feel good. The car has a lot of potential to have a good day. I’m pretty confident we can be ahead.”
